Welcome to my brand new website. It is still very much a work in progress but we can only go upwards and onwards from here!
My name is Heather and I am professional artist from Lincolnshire, UK.
I taught myself to draw from an early age and I have always loved animals. I studied Zoology at university and went into animal rescue for over a decade before deciding to pursue my dream as an artist. I first started painting portraits of the rescue dogs I was caring for in 2017, and my co-workers and friends began commissioning to draw their pets too.
Studying Zoology made me appreciate the benefits of being out in nature and documenting the wildlife I saw with sketches. It was a wonderful way to make memories and allowed me to bring a little piece of the outdoors indoors without disturbing the ecosystem.
People are so full of life and movement, I couldn't neglect painting them too. I have always loved watching animation and dance, and all the wonderful ways us humans express ourselves. I took up life drawing classes after a period of severe burnout and realised I really enjoy making soulful portraits of people.
I would like to tell stories one day and hope to one day illustrate a story combining my interest in animals, nature, and people in the future.
My goal in establishing myself as an artist is to support local animal rescues and good causes, and to engage with the community and share my creative skills in workshops. I hope you will join me on my journey.
